It is a rule of the game of basketball that Matchplay backboards must be padded on health and safety grounds (FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2014, Basketball Equipment, Rule 6). We also strongly recommend that backboard padding is specified for all practice goals on health and safety grounds.
Backboard padding is mandatory on basketball backboards in trampoline parks on safety grounds (PAS 5000) and Continental's slam-dunk lanes in trampoline parks use practice size TuffGuard padding.
If your backboards are padded, then injuries caused by contact with the board are less likely to arise. If you have also padded your practice goals then any subsequent claims arising from injury can be defended by having gone above and beyond the rules set down by the worldwide governing body.
Continental Sports TuffGuard padding is a manufactured with an embedded steel insert allowing the padding to be bolted securely to the backboard. This means the padding cannot come away from the board - unlike other pads which are simply glued on.
TuffGuard backboard padding for practice size backboards is available in RED ex-stock. Other colours are available but are subject to a surcharge - please contact us for details if you require a colour other than RED.
The price shown is supply only of ONE PAIR of pads to suit ONE PAIR (i.e. TWO) practice size 1.2m x 0.9m timber backboards or perspex backboards on steel frames.
