Sport England ask for walls to be flush, so how do I deal with needing visible fire call points?
Sport England appreciates the difficulty in meeting potentially conflicting standards in respect of alarm call points in sports halls. It is important to protect sports hall users from injury by not having fittings protruding from the walls whilst also complying with existing British Standards which state that call points should be positioned in a way that ensures they can be readily seen from the side.
Sport England have provided guidance that semi-recessed fire call points can have a soft foam surround to reduce the risk of injury whilst still allowing the call point to be seen from the side.
Continental Sports has developed a bespoke product to achieve compliance with Building Regulations and Sport England guidance: Continental Sports Call Point Padding - see below
